Terra Costantino

Etna's Organic Pioneers: A family-run estate on Etna’s southern slope, Terra Costantino has championed certified organic farming since the early 2010s.
Volcanic Elegance, Naturally Made: Wines from native grapes: Nerello Mascalese, Nerello Cappuccio, Carricante, crafted with spontaneous fermentations and minimal intervention.
Terrace-Farmed, Sea-Influenced Vines: Old vines planted at 450–500 meters in Contrada Blandano yield wines of purity, freshness, and volcanic mineral tension.
Refined, Burgundian-Style Etna Wines: From their flagship De Aetna line to single-vineyard bottlings, the wines are precise, lifted, and deeply expressive of place.
Terra Costantino – Organic Elegance from Etna’s Southern Slopes
Etna is a place of extremes, fire and stone, altitude and air, and Terra Costantino is one of its most graceful interpreters. Located on the southern slope of the volcano in the historic contrada of Contrada Blandano, just outside Viagrande, the estate has quietly become one of the region’s benchmarks for organically farmed, terroir-driven wines with energy, balance, and soul.
Founded in the 1970s, the winery began as a family affair, but it wasn’t until 2010, under the vision of Fabio Costantino, that Terra Costantino began to shift from a small, local producer to a serious name in the new wave of Etna. Inspired by the mountain’s raw potential and the depth of its native varieties, Fabio and his family focused on restoring their old terraces, committing fully to organic viticulture and producing wines that reflect the unique voice of their land.
Today, Terra Costantino is certified organic and run by the next generation, with Fabio’s son Dino Costantino deeply involved in both vineyard and cellar. The estate’s vineyards are planted at around 450–500 meters above sea level, where volcanic soils, old vines, and sea breezes create ideal conditions for wines of natural tension and elegance. The estate cultivates Nerello Mascalese and Nerello Cappuccio for reds, and Carricante and Catarratto for whites, each variety handled with minimal intervention to preserve purity and freshness.
Fermentations are spontaneous, sulfur is used sparingly, and oak is present only to support, never dominate. The wines are delicate yet layered Etna wines with a Burgundian sensibility: lifted aromatics, fine tannins, and a clear mineral signature that comes straight from the volcanic rock beneath the vines.
The flagship wines, De Aetna Rosso and De Aetna Bianco, capture the essence of the estate: volcanic, vibrant, and food-friendly. The estate also produces a single-vineyard Etna Rosso from old vines in Contrada Blandano, a wine that speaks in a deeper, slower rhythm. Across the range, Terra Costantino’s wines offer clarity, elegance, and a soulful connection to this ancient land.
In a region where the energy of the volcano shapes everything, Terra Costantino channels that force into wines of surprising grace—wines that whisper, rather than shout, the story of Etna.
